You are right. I converted dvi to ps on cyrillic text, and then ps to pdf.
Search works
on ps file in gsview and NOT on pdf file in acrobat. Direct coversion dvi - pdf
gives
the same result. Unexpected! Thank you for the alarm.

Hello!
Russian (Cyrillic) characters are not searchable in PDF files created by MiKTeX
LaTeX due to nonstandard encoding.
Hence search cannot be used to find anything in large files.
It is a pitfall! How to use cp1251 standard Windows encoding in PDF files?
