For the Jakarta ANT stuff, the 'deep links' are
incorrect for site mirrors (missing /dist/).
Apart from that, it's a good idea. However, 'index.html' and
README files for www and ftp users would improve usability.
The backup site http://nagoya.apache.o
apache 'central' would just be responsible for only one mirror,
things would undoubtedly improve. The problem is, and has been,

mirror problems, that would otherwize be noticed only by
the mirrors. This goes for permission proble

but leave ftp users 'in the cold').
As I said earlier, there are reasons for the mirrors NOT to carry
the 'historical' stuff : 1) confusing and 2) nobody uses them.
So, isn't it wise to FIRST decide if mirrors should carry
the old stuff, at all ? I
year ago it took more than 2 days continuous mirroring
to get to 75% sync with the jakarta archive (due to performance
problems on the jakarta end).

It shouldn't even be considered.
