t normal that /etc/dumpdates is empty after the backup? > b) What do I have to modify to add the information into /etc/dumpdates? Only filesystem backups are recorded in /etc/dumpdates. If you dump the filesystem that /etc is in (/), then it'll be recorded as you expect.
