Your request is just fine.

You provide all the relevant information in your support.dat record
and you have a website making it clear that you provide OpenBSD-related
services.

Having more details about your skills and experiences on the website,
and maybe have the website provide examples of successfully completed
projects, might be helpful to convince potential customers you are
the right person for their job, but it is not required for a listing.

I'm sorry i let this request slip for so long.
But now i finally committed it about half an hour ago.

Please have a look at

  https://www.openbsd.org/support.html

now to confirm that your data is indeed correct.

For these two lines, i used the correct accents.
The UTF-8 encoding is now the default in HTML5,
and i think using it in such a page that is clearly geared
to various national audiences makes some sense, even though
many entries still use US-ASCII only for historical reasons.

Unless i'm mistaken, there is no mention of OpenBSD on your website.

The web hosting offers appear to be for Linux and Windows only, and

Your web site does not contain any mention of OpenBSD as far as i can
see, so i'm not adding it right now.

Also, there is almost no content on the web site and none of the
buttons that appear to explain the company's products lead anywhere.
The little text that is there mostly consists of web-scale buzzwords.

Feel free to resubmit after collecting some references to completed
projects and/or some success stories related to OpenBSD.

That won't happen.

> I believe I am entitled

You are not entitled to anything. The server www.openbsd.org is a
private server and the OpenBSD project is free to provide the
information it choses. Just like you are free to advertise your
own services, or the services of other people you choose, on your
own website. Nobody is entitled to an explanation.

Also note that we do not state the criteria for inclusion, nor are
they written down anywhere. It's a matter of judgement.

In the past, it was considered whether the page support.html
should be deleted outright, to avoid distracting deevelopers
from development. Even though i realize that such a page can
never be perfect, i consider it useful, so i committed to maintaining
it as best i can and trying to shield other developers from getting
distracted by it.

I'm not volunteering to follow any formal processes maintaining
it, and i feel convinced there is no need to.

That said, other developers are of course also free to commit
to the page. But if they choose not to, they don't owe you an
explanation.

Yours,
  Ingo

Re: support new

2020-11-16 Thread Ingo Schwarze
Hi,

i don't care greatly if another developer wants to add this, but i
advise against it. Talking to this person is a tedious job, he
seems to not understand very well what you say or to not really
listen. He is also quite bad at explaining stuff and it's hard to
figure out what he is driving at. So i fear listing him might do
our users a disservice.

  Ingo

That line seems inappropriate to me because, as far as i can see,
that page contains no information about your business or services
and no link to a site containing such information.

https://cpnetserver.net/ only returns a security warning
("The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.")

http://cpnetserver.net/ only returns a vague error message
("This was the problem...")

My opionion is that it would be better to provide some information
for the public on your site before adding the link to support.html.

I'm not convinced the last of these lines is appropriate;
does an OpenBSD developer working for AppliedOpenBSD.com
really exist?

If not, advertising "OpenBSD development" might seem misleading.
In that case, maybe you would like to reword the last line, for
example "research and development using OpenBSD" or "... based on
OpenBSD" or something like that?

Yours,

Added, thanks.
I left out "X n/a" because it that is an optional field anyway.

Hi Sarah,

It is unclear to me how your offering relates to OpenBSD.
I cannot find any mention of OpenBSD on your website.

A search for "openbsd" with your website's own search box only
brings up 4 unrelated results:
  Seminar FreeBSD Administration
  Seminar Samba-Server
  Seminar Unix Netzwerkadministration
  Seminar Internetanbindung Workshop

It doesn't look like your site meets our criteria for entries
on https://www.openbsd.org/support.html, which explicitly states
that "we may at any time, and without notification, remove your
entry if it is found to be inaccurate, if your website is broken,
or if there is no mention of OpenBSD on it."
^^^

If you do indeed have OpenBSD-specific offerings, please add information
about them to your site first, and then re-submit your entry. Thanks.

Please add me to the support list or advice accordingly. I had made the
same request on March 4th and this is a resend.

Thank you for the early release of 5.9 !

Forever grateful for the treasure that OpenBSD is.

Kihaguru
