nfe0 issues on -current dated 20 Aug 2014

2014-08-27 Thread Chuck Burns
I recently installed OpenBSD-current snapshot onto a box that has an nvidia
chipset, including integrated an integrated MCP51 10/100 nvidia network
controller.

I cannot seem to get the network to work under OpenBSD, although it worked
quite well with FreeBSD.

the related bits in dmesg are:

nfe0 at pci0 dev 20 function 0 NVIDIA MCP51 LAN rev 0xa3: apic 2 int 20,
address 00:18:f3:35:6d:d4
nfe0: could not load rx buf DMA mapnfe0: could not allocate Rx ring

I tried searching via google.com for anything I could find even partially
related to this, but I've come up empty handed.

Try a more recent snapshot, there was a fix that went in after that one:

revision 1.107

after allocating an mbuf and cluster you still need to init the length
fields.

found by steven roberts, who also tested this fix for me

2007-11-11 Thread Agung T. Apriyanto

hi,

i have similar problem too, my sk(4) autoselect only show 10baseT full
duplex, before upgrade to 4.2 its show 1000baseT full duplex. it also
use eephy*. from this thread i know there's a patch, but how do i apply
the patch without upgrade to current ? just download the diff and re
compile ? or someone else have a better idea ?

here's my copy of dmesg, and pls cc me, i'm not in the list.
thank you.

rgds,
Agung

nfe0 issues

2007-11-06 Thread Chris Harper
I recently installed 4.2 release on my evga 680i based motherboard ,
which uses nfe(4) for the onboard gig NIC's.

There seems to be an issue in the handling of the autodetection of
media types and the speed it can run at when manual
selection is set. So say for instance I set it manually to 100baseTX
it will no longer function and does not send packets.
If I then set it to 10baseT it will work fine, I have checked the
network routers/cables and interfaces from a windows partition
which detects a 100mbps link.

I have notived that on the router it detects a 100mbps link before the
kernel initiatesthe device during boot i.e before any mention of nfe
on the screen.

Has anyone else had any similar issues using nfe interfaces ?

Try using a gigabit switch. I remember having similar issues with
which were solved by switching to 1000baseTX.

Sorry about not including a dmesg output previously.

I will try a snapshot and report back on any progress.
