azalia seems to default to 50% volume for some reason on my nvidia chipset amd64 board. so, i actually have this in my rc.local at home: mixerctl -w outputs.mix0c=255,255 you could try turning all your outputs to max volume, since they all appear to be 50% or less. that way you could figure
