I hadf the same problem before
This is how I patched /etc/rc
Basicly /etc/rc Trys to remout /var /usr and /
While booting this beaks the mfs mounts

You need to edit /etc/rc and on about line 185
mount /var /dev/null 21
comment this out reboot and all should be ok

I tried with 'swap' and it was the same. Besides, it only directs mfs to set
the
'partition' parameters based on /dev/wd0e.
