As a matter of fact there are at least *three* different versions of
that board around...

 The following link.

Just like Dell... Found out the hard way that they will change critical
parts mid-way through the life of a model. They changed from a Broadcom
chip to an Intel chip mid-way through one of the models of servers I had
to support causing my automation script to break

GigE Chipset

2011-01-19 Thread L. V. Lammert
Looking for some low cost GigE NICs for a lab setup, .. as usual, however,
the chipset is not listed on the card description. Is anyone aware of the
chipset/compatibility for any of these?

NETGEAR GA311
Allied Telesis AT 2916T
Linksys EG1032

Thanks!

Lee

Re: GigE Chipset

2011-01-19 Thread Korey Kaczor
The netgear and linksys are realtek 8169 devices, and the allied is a
marvell 88E8001 device. Their respective drivers are re and sk, I
believe. This took 5 minutes of google and apropos 8169 and
apropos marvell to find out though I think that should be accurate,
though I don't have any of these cards and can't tell you anything
about them, though my integrated 8169 runs fine for my home use.

The allied card had a PDF on their site listing the chipset on the
last page towards the bottom right -- it was a bit hidden.
