Hi,
Purely for fun and interest on low power impressive little box.
Just to follow up on previous emails on misc@ for the super micro
X7SLA-H and good feedback from henning on it. I decided to give a try to
the newer one to see. The X7SPA-HF. Very impressive for a small box and
very low power too. I was looking for low power for some time and this
looks pretty good. I thought it might be a good complement to the
previous questions on that board.
I try as well for fun the BIOS RAID, wasn't able to get OpenBSD to use
it, but may just be me. I try a few times. Again, not a big deal anyway
as I want to use softraid anyway. Just wanted to test for fun.
Anyway, with dual very low power SATA drive in there and that borad, it
is very quiet obviously and pretty darn low power too.
I still haven't tested the remote console management yet. No idea if
good or not, but based on previous Henning feedback on the previus
board, it may be just the minimum needed, will see. The only part that
anoy me a little is the IPMI lan access configuration can't be disabled
in BIOS on the NIC 1. Can be assigned a static address that would go no
where, but not disabled it. Again, not a big deal, but anyway.
I enable ipmi in the kernel
config -ef /bsd
and enable ipmi
The the ipmi attach, however I see
iic0: skipping sensors to avoid ipmi0 interactions
Not really sure what that really mean however. Google appear to be a
conflict with sensors, but I do see the sensors good in both cases.
I guess should I really run it on/off?
Not a big deal I guess, but I am curious on it.

I can do some tests if anyone needs some as I am not installing it yet.
