Enticing. On the minus side, I assume the BIOS won't be accessible
over serial, and I'm unclear just how fast the CPU will be under
load. On the plus side, the CPU has AES+CLMUL so it doesn't really
matter.

Good luck running those fanless. I expect a blurb "adequate cooling
will be the responsibility of the customer" and standard cases
equipped with a shrieking 2.5 cm fan. I so hope I'll be proven
wrong.

According to a page linked from the comments onm Phoronix, fitlet-B
will "sell for $129 (without storage or RAM)":

http://liliputing.com/2015/01/compulab-fitlit-small-fanless-amd-mullins-pc-for-linux-windows.html

There are also a few pictures of the inside on that page. I'd say
it looks rather cramped, I'd wait for the first reports of how hot it
runs with mSATA and wifi.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the heads-up! One of those fitlet-X (
http://www.fit-pc.com/web/products/fitlet/fitlet-x/) seems like an almost
perfect firewall/VPN SoHo solution :)

Kind regards.

2015-01-14 Thread Jan Lambertz
Hi,

as i am always searching for new (low power) hardware, today i found
something new.
It sounds quite nice for running openbsd as a router/firewall.
It is possible that not everything is supported right now in openbsd
but the low power and number of nics made me smile.
It might be availiable around march 2015. Hopefully someone will try
running openbsd on it.Some highlights:
AMD A4-6400T SoC
64-bit quad core
1.0GHz (boost up to 1.6GHz)
4.5W
1x SO-DIMM 204-pin DDR3 SDRAM memory slot
Up to 8GB DDR3-1333
1x mSATA slot up to 6 Gbps (SATA 3.0)
AMD Radeon R3 Graphics
2x GbE LAN ports (RJ-45)
LAN1: Intel I211 GbE controller
LAN2: Intel I211 GbE controller
Warranty 5 years
