If you watch commits to master carefully, you may have noticed a new file appear recently, CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md. This is the first of what will be a series of documents establishing a more explicit set of community standards and practices for the Mixxx Project. Codes of Conduct are not just a fad that Open Source communities have started to adopt, they are a powerful tool to help keep projects going and navigate difficult terrain.
The Code we have chosen is based on Chromium's, which itself is the product of a number of well-regarded documents. It could be summarized as "be excellent to each other," but it also outlines the type of behavior we don't want to see in interactions on the Mixxx Project. I should be clear that I don't think we have an endemic problem of troll-like behavior, so this document isn't a reaction to any person or thread or event. Instead it's meant as a foundation for a good community, as well as a signal to potential contributors that Mixxx intends to be a positive, affirming place to spend time and be productive.
