initial troubleshooting:
/var/log/messages probably contains the 'dmesg' output of just beore the
crash (there's timestamps in front of each messages), look at the
messages just before the crash and see if

When it doesn't (and assuming you're using the
nvidia.com binary driver), could you try the XFree86 'nv' opensource
driver and re-try that too (now with audio+xawtv)? This is all just to
pin down the exact problem.
