Thanks Andrzej for the patch.
It produces better results in about 2/3 of cases, and worse in about 1/3 of
cases for resolution 23. So overall it's an improvement, and at least for
compiling contourlines I didn't notice a significant difference in compile
time. I could test this more in detail also
Hi Gerd,
I don't observe any significant differences in compilation. But to make
it more optimized, we can put SizeFilter before DouglasPeuckerFilter. I
have attached a second patch here.
There is a difference in results. See pictures with DouglasPeuckerFilter
after RoundCoordsFilter and new
Hi Andrzej,
at resolution 24 we only do simplification which doesn't have visual effects.
Your patch might help. I tried that once and found the improvement too small
compared to the increased run time.

Hi,
maybe 10m contours are too dense for this area?
Please try attached patch. I have moved D-P simplification before
rounding of coordination. This should preserve shape of the line a bit
better. I'm not sure if this is a safe modification, but it seems to works.

Hi Gerd
More more testing with standard style / options etc. As well as --order
-by, I had some level params that confused.
With GPSMapEdit at Zoom level 2, there is a wide cut from the LHS
forest triangle to the holes around 54.9953,-58.2209. It seems to be
the total height of the holes.

Thanks to Arndt for testing and reporting the issue in a provate mail.

Is there a simple way to look at an .osm.pbf file with JOSM?

Hi
I presume this will be most use to people who generate sea-latest.zip.
I use --generate-sea=..., so using the current OSM data for the area
concerned, and, before loading onto a device, look at the overview map
with GPSMapEdit to check the sea has worked correctly.
If the country cut has prob
Hi Gerd
Just tried this with latest trunk and my standard environment (mainly
--order-by-decreasing-area
and get very inconsistent results.
On GPSMapEdit seems reasonable - shows forest triangle and, within, a
small area with a number of holes.
MapSource shows a white square, no forest colour a
Hi Experts,
while working on the faster-mp branch I experimented with the monster relation
r9488835. I added tag landuse=forest to it so that it is actually rendered and
found huge (wrong) empty rectangles in the forest.
The original file is very complex but the same problem also occurs with a
