the new branch to test things.
I still feel level>=1, the higher the level the less exact it needs to be.
It just needs to be small and beautiful from
a NET file.

Actually I think I did some mistake concerning the patch - or the patch is not
working together with the simplify v4 patch. I think I made
far I never found a hint for that.

yes I tried it out now without additional DP changes. Routing was identical in

Going to test out the patch a bit more right now. Only problem for me is - I
cannot set custom dp filter anymore.. But I guess you will implement that
anyhow soon?

Are you sure it would be needing that much more memory? If there is a big
penalty this simplification could only be done for lower resolutions, which
contain much less data

here is what I mean - zig zagging like crazy if you look at it with lowest
detail which is really helpful to see this problem. Those highways should be
just straight. Oh yes - because the highways are two separate lanes
point if that would give the best result.

Hi Felix,
I expect (more) small missing parts of complex shapes like forests or waterway
areas (those without mkgmap:skipSizeFilter=true) and more obvious

Hi,
some more experiments, see attached patch. I have tried to optimize
rounding of coordinates for lowest distance to line. This is not good
for polygons, because can creates gaps between adjacent polygons.

Thanks Andrzej for the patch.
It produces better results in about 2/3 of cases, and worse in about 1/3 of
cases for resolution 23. So overall it's an improvement, and at least for
compiling contourlines I didn't notice a significant difference in compile
time. I could test this more in detail also
Hi Gerd,
I don't observe any significant differences in compilation. But to make
it more optimized, we can put SizeFilter before DouglasPeuckerFilter. I
have attached a second patch here.
There is a difference in results. See pictures with DouglasPeuckerFilter
after RoundCoordsFilter and

Hi,

Please try attached patch. I have moved D-P simplification before
rounding of coordination. This should preserve shape of the line a bit
better. I'm not sure if this is a safe modification, but it seems to works.
