Note that I've started working on overhauling the splitter to try to reduce
the memory requirements as much as possible without compromising too much
on performance. I'm also hoping to overcome the limitations on the number
of tiles (255) and number of areas for each relation (currently 4). My

Yeah, maybe we could make an option for this? ;-)
Sounds good to me!
Maybe there is an open source framework we could use:

Yep that framework takes a pretty similar approach to ours. We'd actually
evaluated that (and about 10 others) before deciding to roll our own due
to various requirements we had that no frameworks were able to provide but
you're probably right, something like JCLI would be a good match for

Hi Cliff,
I was unable to reproduce your problem on my Nuvi 360. I have create a
map of Ireland using your options. I just have skipped the TYP and the
style file stuff.
I used Hickey's Pharmacy in Santry as an example and the Nuvi displays
the Phone Symbol right in front of the phone number.
FWIW, I think this problem is model-specific. My Nuvi 250 can't do
Bluetooth, but it can display addresses and phone numbers and it
formats them perfectly for me.
Cliff's device seems to dislike the same data from the same img file, though.

Hi Cliff,
thanks for the screen shot. This seams to be really a 860T specific
problem. On my Nuvi the Phone symbol is displayed in all cases. What I
noticed is that Hickey's Pharmacy POI has to use a complex phone number
and house number record.
The POI record is stored in a very memory

Ahoy there shipmates,
This patch is a first stab at providing support for the 3-byte extended
types that are used on marine maps.
Extended types are specified as a 6 digit hex number. The first two
digits are always 01. An example type is 0x010200 (point type Buoy).
