Hi Nick,
sorry, you lost me. The messages say e.g.
SEVERE (HGTReader): args\73902528.o5m: failed to get size for file N63W007.hgt
from E:\hgt\faroes\N63W007.zip
So mkgmap finds a file named E:\hgt\faroes\N63W007.zip but it cannot extract
the corresponding *.hgt file.
Please post one of the zip
Hi Gerd,
Thanks for trying even with the latest mkgmap I get.
However, 'failed to get ' msgs do not fail to create a dem !

Hi Nick,
that is true, but the list is only used to suppress the message that a file was
not found.
What we see here is that it seems to find the file and doesn't like it.
Can you reproduce the problem when you extract Faroe.zip somewhere else?
If not, something is wrong in the original
Hi Nick,
I cannot reproduce a problem with those files. I've extracted your files and
tried this with r4136:
java -jar d:\mkgmap\dist\mkgmap.jar --dem=faroes --overview-dem-dist=8
--dem-poly=args\areas.poly --dem-dists=3312,9942,16560 args\73902528.o5m
Maybe you are not using the latest

Hi Nick,
you did not send the *.zip files e.g. E:\hgt\faroes\N63W007.zip,

Hi Gerd,
I think I see what is happening:
It can't find
E:\hgt\faroes\N63W007.hgt
so its looking for
E:\hgt\faroes\N63W007.hgt.zip
Previously, in other versions I got messages like N63W007.hgt should exist but
doesn't
Maybe that's what is confusing me, it now tells its failing to get the

Hi Gerd,
Still,having issues.
It only seems to happen with these hgt files, but they seem to have file
sizes common to 3'' hgt files.
Perhaps it has something to do with islands?
For some reason it's looking for non existent hgt.zip files ...
Have uploaded hgt files etc at
Hi Gerd,
That seems to be the issue ; I only use the .hgt files in the folder and
do not use hgt.zip
Was there a reference somewhere that I have been referring to .zip files ?

Hi all,
I noticed many missing housenumbers searching in the maps I am
building (actually also with other maps retrieved from the web by other
map providers).
In this area for example number 20 is present but nearby numbers are
missing:
