Hello Mlt-devel list,

I've just released Flowblade Movie Editor 0.6.0, a MLT based
non-linear video editor application, and decided to announce it here,
as this may be of some interest to the subscribers of this mailing
list. I started working on this in late 2009 and many a night later
the first release is finally here.

Project homepage is at: http://code.google.com/p/flowblade/

There is .deb installer and source archive available there to install
Flowblade on recent Debian based systems.

>From MLT/distribution/technical point-of-view Flowblade is very close
to Openshot: it's a Python/MLT/GTK+ application. The main differences
are that I'm not using Goocanvas or Glade, but hand coded GUI and
Cairo for timeline drawing.

As you can very easily see from the tutorial movies that are linked at
the project homepage, the main editing paradigm of Flowblade is very
different from both Openshot and Kdenlive. Flowblade employs a "film
style" or "insert editing" paradigm, maybe best known from Avid
products.

Something I probably should mention here: I used wipe pattern images
from both Kdenlive and Openshot assuming that they were released under
GLP2+ and GPL3+ licenses respectively, because there were no mention
that the resource image files were released under some other license.
Files are listed and copyrights mentioned in the .deb package that is
available.

I filed a RFP (RequestForPackaging) bug at Debian today, so let's see
if there are any takers, or do I need to become my own maintainer at
Debian, we'll see.

I'll be filing some bug reports during the summer if I'm able to
confirm and reproduce some bugs. Next year I will maybe start writing
some plug-ins, probably using the freiX0r framework.

MLT rocks. Best late spring to everyone.

Regards,
Janne Liljeblad
