Hi Dan,
your update trickled down to the Kdenlive master ppa, so I gave it a try
on my "monster" project. Kdenlive now works like a charm when scrubbing
along the critical parts with 11 tracks full of images which are
composited onto each other.

Sure. This was an ugly area in the framework that had been bothering me a
little for a while, and the issue you reported happened to nudge me into
seeing a good resolution.
