You are welcome sir,
He said that one of his friends wants to buy karbon a15, if it will
get jelly bean update. As aruni sir said that the phone has stock
android.
I also would like to know that which mobile brands come with stock
android and which brands with custom rom generally.
So that we can have some basic idea.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Few clarifications about android mobile.

2013-05-10 Thread Aruni Sharma
There are nexus phones which are pure google phones, having stock android
and also provide all updates. then there are samsung, sony and LG phones
which do quite a bit of customisation. Nexus phones are quite expensive.
I suppose most of the indian brands like karbon, micromax lava etc would be
having stock or least customised roms. But there update cycle may also not
be up to the mark.

As far as accessibility is concerned, it has been pointed out earlier what
matters is the operating systems. to add further, in case there are some
issues of accessibility for apps like dialer or default keyboard, it can be
overcome easily by installing replacements for those apps. so accessibility
would be best if the phone has latest jb i.e. 4.2.2.

Hi Harish, this is strange indeed. GPS navigation is a big selling point of
android devices. I also looked through various websites and did not find
GPS/AGPS mentioned. it would be a big blunder for any android manufacturer

which doesn't have GPS.

Dear Aruni
I don't think GPS was mentioned in the spects. It is ok if either GPS or
AGPS
Is available in this model. AGPS enhances the aquiring the satellites when
the GPS is turned on.

If by any chance GPS is not available, then it would be a limitation.

4.2 to launch for Rs. 9, 999

Xolo is all set to launch a new smartphone in the Indian market.
Dubbed the Q700, the smartphone will be available in the market for
Rs. 9,999, making it the most affordable quad-core offering from Xolo.
Moreover, Xolo Q700 is also the first smartphone from Xolo to offer
Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Internally the Xolo Q700 will
pack in 1.2GHz quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. The
smartphone also offers 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which
can be expanded by up to 32GB.

Xolo Q700 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD IPS display. Much like the other
smartphones in the Q series, Q700 also deploys the One Glass Solution
(OGS) technology. It comes with 2400 mAh battery, which as per company
claims gives 17 hours of talk time and 380 hours of standby time on 2G
and 16 hours of talk time and 350 hours of standby time on 3G.

For camera, there is a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel
front-facing camera. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that also supports
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity options. This smartphone will not
come in traditional colours such as Black, White or Silver but will be
available only in Brown and Blue colour.

This smartphone is already listed on Flipkart.com but the price isn't
shown. We are not sure when this smartphone will be officially
launched, but it should be available in this week itself.

No Android phones is equal to that of Samsung in the worldas for as
accessibility is concern.

Next is Sony in India and sometimes HDC too.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Building APK.

2013-05-10 Thread Harish

Dear Aruni

He has the source files and wants to make a APK file. Eclipse is the
standard means to do so.
I have not worked on it though. Eclipse is freeware and accessible with
NVDA, So, good to give it a try.

Regards
Harish.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Building APK.

2013-05-10 Thread Amar Jain
Dear Aruni Sir / Cannon,

I am a part of eyes-free user group, but wasn't keen on joining
developers list as mostly the things will pass over my brain as I am
not a developer as such.

Aruni Sir, the idea here is that I have the source code of an app, to
be precise ESpeak by Reece, which is a paid app, but Google Wallet
doesn't support cards with 3d security. So, I pulled out the zip of
the source code from github, and now I have to build the APK. As far
as compiling is concerned, from reading it seems that using EClips is
a best option, as it requires lesser commands to be given, though not
aware of accessibility challenges.

The lines which I am not able to understand is the terminal command,
but since it is followed by $sign, I am not sure how far it will work
on windows. To my knowledge, the $ based commands work on linix etc.
For your ready reference, it is pasted as below.

Fetching the Sources

The Android port uses the ucd-tools submodule. You can fetch this by running:
$ git submodule init
$ git submodule update

If I am able to do the basic development stuff, then my next task is
to learn android coding. Though I intend to use the same for fun and
to see if I can make things easy for me by playing with app source.

Regards,
