In my experience javascript (widget)libaries are in general somewhat
disapointing
To be onest, to often widgets/libaries don't work or don't work as
intended if you try to keep your code cross-browser.
I.M.O ,and despite all the efforst from widget contributers , widgets
are best made by

cross-browser. Maybe if your widget is INPUT box. I don't have
illusions of writing better widgets then community can produce by
collaborative effort.
