Module submission Regexp::ERE

2012-07-30 Thread Perl Authors Upload Server

The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  modid:   Regexp::ERE
  DSLIP:   bdpf2
  description: Extended Regexs and finite automata
  userid:  LOIC (Loïc Jonas Etienne)
  chapterid:   11 (String_Lang_Text_Proc)
  communities:

  similar:
FLAT

  rationale:

Regexp rootlevel because Regex::ERE handles regular expressions

Regexp::ERE focuses on transparency: simple, well-documented,
pure-perl data structures (and routines converting between them),
for developers to be able to use and adapt them for their own
purposes.

The regular expression syntax is based on POSIX ERE (with full
unicode support), the differences being documented (egrep
compatibility is the main goal). Perl-regexs can be outputted as
well.

Furthermore, Regexp::ERE offers an heuristic for building
GUI-widgets compliant with a given regular expression or automaton
(suggesting drowdown-lists wherever possible). It was the main
motivation for this module (which is in productive use since about
one year).

To everybody who are concerned,

Derek has yet to return to me after this last message over a month ago. He's
being very unresponsive, and I want to work on Text::MediawikiFormat . So it
seems there are three options:

1. That Derek will get his act together and return to me. (Requires cooperation
from Derek).

2. That I'll be given co-maint for Text::MediawikiFormat on CPAN. (Requires
cooperation from the CPAN admins).

3. That I fork Text::MediawikiFormat under a different name (say
Text::MediawikiFormat::Butter - a play on ::ButMaintained).

What do you suggest?

Module submission Net::IMP

The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  description: Inspection and Modication in proxies, IDS...
  userid:  SULLR (Steffen Ullrich)
  chapterid:   5 (Networking_Devices_IPC)
  communities:

  similar:

  rationale:

The module implements an interface for inspecting and modifying
data in an callback drin way. It is targeted at inspecting proxies,
firewalls, IDS etc - no matter if commercial or free. The idea is to
have an easy to use interface to let anybody write plugins to
analyze and modify traffic. Sample implementations of such proxies
are already included in the distribution, to make it easy to start
experimenting. Also there will be an implementation in the
commercial genugate firewall.

IMHO no module like this is currently at CPAN. There is some
overlapping functionality with Net::xAP (last update 1999), which
attempted to implement ICAP, a widely used protocol also for
inspection, but IMHO inferior for anything except small HTTP
requests.

I think the Net::* space fits nicely, because there are lots of
protocols (Net::SMTP..) and also inspection (Net::Inspect, which can
be nicely used together with Net::IMP)

The current state of the module can already be seen at
https://github.com/noxxi/p5-net-imp
