build-helper Feature Request: Version prefix for released-version
Hello, I've got a feature/pull request for the build-helper plugin. I'd like to add the functionality for the released-version goal to detect the highest incremental or minor version for a given minor/major version. Currently, the released-version goal always returns the most recent (highest) version in the repository. I'd like to be able to specify a "prefix" to allow me to, for example, find the highest minor version for 2.x releases, or the highest incremental version for 2.3.x releases. I've created a PR with this functionality: https://github.com/mojohaus/build-helper-maven-plugin/pull/159 as it is pretty straightforward. Let me know what you think! [VOTE] Take servicedocgen-maven-plugin out of beta
Hi there, I want to take servicedocgen-maven-plugin out of beta and propose to bring out the next release as 1.0.0. The plugin has now been used in various projects and scenarios. All reasonable bugs discovered in the beta releases have now been fixed. OpenAPI support has been added and SwaggerUI will be added for next release. Also documentation has been improved and seems reasonable. [ ] +1 [ ] +0 [ ] -1 The vote is open for 72 hours and will succeed by lazy consensus. Re: release failing, help needed
Hi Bean, thanks for your response and your suggestion. I updated parent to the latest release 61: https://github.com/mojohaus/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/commit/ca831c4821200ea162174533cf7293d433b03c53 After rerunning the release process I ended up with the exact same behaviour. BTW: [INFO] BUILD SUCCESS [INFO] [INFO] Total time: 01:25 h [INFO] Finished at: 2021-05-27T21:38:28+02:00 IMHO almost 1,5h is extraordinary slow for the release of a simple mojo. Something wrong with OSSRH nexus? It seems that release plugins hates me as I hat it. Is mojohaus still following the manifesto or have we changed to a collaboration of agile sub-projects where only the results count? So if nobody forces me to follow the official process and to use release-maven-plugin, I can do the release with "devon release" from devonfw-ide or I can also try to automate it via github actions. release failing, help needed
Dear mojohaus experts, after a long while I want to build a release of one of my mojos. I tried to exactly follow the instructions: https://www.mojohaus.org/development/performing-a-release.html Whilst running mvn release:perform I saw log message like this: Uploading to ossrh-staging: http://oss.sonatype.org/service/local/staging/deploy/maven2/org/codehaus/mojo/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/1.0.0-beta-4/servicedocgen-maven-plugin-1.0.0-beta-4.jar [WARNING] Failed to upload checksum org/codehaus/mojo/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/1.0.0-beta-4/servicedocgen-maven-plugin-1.0.0-beta-4.jar.sha1: null [WARNING] Failed to upload checksum org/codehaus/mojo/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/1.0.0-beta-4/servicedocgen-maven-plugin-1.0.0-beta-4.jar.md5: null However, build gave me SUCCESS so I closed the repo in OSSRH. Status of migrating to GitHub actions
i've seen a few mojohaus projects already migrated from travis to GitHub actions. this is important because travis-ci.org quickly degenerates and will be switched off in a few weeks (following the message on their website). travis-ci.com is a possible replacement, but they are limiting build time for OSS projects (unless you get an exception by their management). i would like to migrate the build-helper-maven-plugin [1] to GitHub actions and created a branch with a copy of the scripts from versions-maven-plugin [2]. this is working quite well. other plugins like animal-sniffer-plugin use a completely different set of workflow scripts [3], and it is still using travis in parallel. is there an "official way" planned to be used for all mojohaus plugins, it should every plugin just go the easiest way that fits for their purposes? the workflow scripts from versions-maven-plugin limit their builds to branches matching '*', which are all branches that do not contains a "/" [4]. this looks like a strange restriction for me, probably that was not the intention. stefan [1] https://github.com/mojohaus/build-helper-maven-plugin [2] https://github.com/mojohaus/versions-maven-plugin/tree/master/.github/workflows [3] https://github.com/mojohaus/animal-sniffer/tree/master/.github/workflows [4] https://docs.github.com/en/actions/reference/workflow-syntax-for-github-actions#patterns-to-match-branches-and-tags -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "mojohaus-dev" group. Re: [VOTE] Release jaxb2-maven-plugin 3.0.0
Hi there everyone, So I am the guy that submitted the PR to add support for JAXB 3 support. Indeed, as a few have already pointed out, JAXB 3 support is not drop-in compatible with 2.x.y versions, as the package namespace has changed now that newer versions of J2EE and JAXB have been moved out of the JDK itself. I perhaps did not make that clear enough in my PR. However, I don't think there will likely be any more 2.x.y versions of JAXB coming along. So perhaps it is safe to say that the previous versions of your excellent jaxb2-maven-plugin which were number 2.x.x were for JAXB 2, and versions numbered 3.x.x are for JAXB 3? Obviously that would need to be made clear in the docs. I also might suggest that either 1) dropping the "2" from the name, or 2) renaming to jaxb3-maven-plugin might help users understand. Anyway, sorry if I caused any issues for you all. I really just wanted to help out get JAXB 3 support going as I could not find any plugin that supported it. Kind regards. Adam. Re: Re: [VOTE] Migration from travis to GitHub Actions
Hi there, any updates on the status of this? In other OSS projects, I have fully automated builds with encrypted credentials so no local build is required and side-effects are prevented (from local interference, dirty repos, file locks, OS differences with Windows vs. Linux). With mojohaus the release build is extra-ordinary tricky and full of manual steps so if you only have to do it once a year, you will suffer each time as you forgot the magic tricks. Yes, there are instructions how to do it but they never worked for me as documented. Further, travis build is already broken for several plugins as Java 1.7 and 1.8 are unsupported: *Expected feature release number in range of 9 to 16, but got: 8 The command "~/bin/install-jdk.sh --target "/home/travis/oraclejdk8" --workspace "/home/travis/.cache/install-jdk" --feature "8" --license "BCL"" failed and exited with 3 during .* I did not yet get the real benefits of moving from travis to github actions. I see much more potential by improving the build and process itself by simplification and automation. BTW: I also tried github actions with github packages and after many days wasted, I figured out with the github support, that github packages ignored maven repository conventions (e.g. SNAPSHOTS do not work at all, etc.) and created something that is more or less not working for the maven ecosystem... However, I am happy for all kind of improvements and as long as it works properly (and is tested with a first plugin before migrating all of them at the same time as already suggested by Jochen). Re: release please?
I find where the problem is: I used bash command "./mvnw -v" to get the version of Maven in these two tests. It will return a string printed as this: /home/yangnuoyu/maven-projects/flatten-maven-plugin Apache Maven 3.6.3 (cecedd343002696d0abb50b32b541b8a6ba2883f) Maven home: /home/yangnuoyu/.m2/wrapper/dists/apache-maven-3.6.3-bin/lm9vem38rfmjij3jj0mk5bvnt/apache-maven-3.6.3 Java version: 1.8.0_251, vendor: Oracle Corporation, runtime: /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_251/jre Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: UTF-8 OS name: "linux", version: "4.19.98-08076-g24ab33fb8e14", arch: "amd64", family: "unix" When I set a PR for these tests, the path in the first line was not part of the result so the version was the third element when I splitted it. For now, it seems like the path suddenly becomes a part of the string so the version becomes the fourth element after splitting. I will set another pull request soon to fix the problem. Re: setup-customarchiver-maven-plugin failure on master when running a single IT
I have been working on this with an engineer at Google, Nuoyu Yang <https://github.com/yangnuoyu>. He discovered that this happens only if we *do not *explicitly run *setup-customarchive-maven-plugin* test first before running another IT. Below command always works without failure: `*mvn verify -Dinvoker.test=setup-customarchive-maven-plugin, [another test]`* We conclude that we do not need to make any fixes here. However, could anyone chime in on why this is required? It would help us understand better. Thank you. Hi, it is not even ci-friendly. maven-exec-plugin problem
Hi there, in order to determine the version(s) of a maven project, several answers on stackoverflow, etc. lead to calling: mvn -q exec:exec -Dexec.executable=echo -Dexec.args='${project.version}' However, if in case the maven project (or one of its modules) itself has the maven-exec-plugin configured in its build section, the above command fails. For some reason here maven tries to invoke that exec-plugin execution as well and ends up with some error like: [ERROR] Unknown lifecycle phase "1.0.0-beta1-SNAPSHOT". You must specify a valid lifecycle phase or a goal in the format : or :[:]:. Available lifecycle phases are: validate, initialize, generate-sources, process-sources, generate-resources, process-resources, compile, process-classes, generate-test-sources, process-test-sources, generate-test-resources, process-test-resources, test-compile, process-test-classes, test, prepare-package, package, pre-integration-test, integration-test, post-integration-test, verify, install, deploy, pre-clean, clean, post-clean, pre-site, site, post-site, site-deploy. -> [Help 1] ... [ERROR] Command execution failed. org.apache.commons.exec.ExecuteException: Process exited with an error: 1 (Exit value: 1) at org.apache.commons.exec.DefaultExecutor.executeInternal (DefaultExecutor.java:404) at org.apache.commons.exec.DefaultExecutor.execute (DefaultExecutor.java:166) at org.codehaus.mojo.exec.ExecMojo.executeCommandLine (ExecMojo.java:804) Is there some smart guy out there who could give me a hint how to avoid this error (stop maven from executing the build execution of exec plugin triggered from "mvn exec:exec" call)? Or as an alternative give me a better hint how to determine the version of the current maven project from bash without manually parsing ./mvn/maven.config as well as pom.xml files, etc. ending up in reimplementing maven... [Vote] release flatten-maven-plugin:1.1.0
Hi, I would like to release version 1.1.0 of the flatten-maven-plugin. Flatten Maven Plugin generates a flattened version of your pom.xml and makes maven to install and deploy this one instead of the original pom.xml. This is a release with some fixes and improvements. The following issues have been fixed: https://github.com/mojohaus/flatten-maven-plugin/milestone/3?closed=1 Open issues: https://github.com/mojohaus/flatten-maven-plugin/issues Staging repository: https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/orgcodehausmojo-1133 Site: http://www.mojohaus.org/flatten-maven-plugin/ [ ] +1 [ ] +0 [ ] -1 The vote is open for 72 hours and will succeed by lazy consensus. Re: Request for review of PRs for exec-maven-plugin
Karl Heinz, Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this failure locally. I run: mvn -Prun-its clean verify And all the integration tests pass: Passed: 20, Failed: 0, Errors: 0, Skipped: 1 I know, "works on my machine"... . But could you check out my branch and try building it, too? Re[2]: TLS config for our site www.mojohaus.org
AFAIK mojohaus.org is hosted on github pages. And also AFAIK github pages hosting still does not support HTTPS on custom domains or letsencrypt. There's a long running discussion on github related to this: https://github.com/isaacs/github/issues/156 Neither cloudflare nor netlify are ideal solutions, because they do not offer completely secure and trusted end-to-end communication with github pages. Re: [discussion] AsciiDoc instead of Markdown?
Hi Hervé, README and CONTRIBUTING are easy. For an example look here: https://github.com/m-m-m/util For a fairly bigger use of AsciiDoc on github where I was involved see: https://github.com/oasp/oasp4j/wiki/OASP4J https://oasp.github.io/assets/PDF/OASP4J.pdf If interested see also here: https://github.com/oasp/oasp-docgen/wiki (build has meanwhile replaced with asciidoctor-maven-plugin making all the XSLT and other stuff obsolete and the build simple and portable via parent POM). All free OSS for share and reuse. Cheers Jörg Am Montag, 25. I get this error in travis-ci for oraclejdk7: The command "./mvnw install -DskipTests=true -Dmaven.javadoc.skip=true -B -V" failed and exited with 1 during . See here: https://travis-ci.org/mojohaus/flatten-maven-plugin/jobs/278323292 IMHO this is a general bug on travis side and has nothing to do with the plugin code. However, this blocks the build and any further progress. Did someone else get the same error? (I did in totally different projects) May I just remove oraclejdk7 as we also have openjdk7? [discussion] AsciiDoc instead of Markdown?
Hi there, I migrated my personal OSS projects entirely from Markdown to AsciiDoc. AsciiDoc is way superior to Markdown. For some projects I do create entire PDF books as documentation from Github Wikis with hundreds of pages using asciidoctor-maven-plugin. Therefore I just wanted to ask if other users think the same and would welcome to use *.adoc in advance to *.md on github (e.g. Readme.md, Contributing.md as well as in wikis). Otherwise I am fine with staying as is. Best regards Jörg -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "mojohaus-dev" group. Re[2]: Question on Changes to the Version Plugin
Hi Oliver, If you are writing your test as part of the invoker-driven ITs, then you can build your additional jar as one of the IT "setup" modules. http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-invoker-plugin/run-mojo.html#setupIncludes You can then refer to that jar in your IT POMs. The main advantage is that this won't require any substantial change to the project structure. Re: All Plugin Links on Mojohaus.org are 404's
Hi Lennart, its actually not all links that result in 404 (e.g. I checked some plugins I am active on or actively using and they work) but quite a lot are broken. If you know how to fix some of the URLs I guess you are most welcome to fix. Can not get worse than 404 anyways... But maybe it was worse before and you already fixed some links... [VOTE] release servicedocgen-maven-plugin version 1.0.0-alpha-3
Hi, I would like to release version 1.0.0-alpha-3 of the servicedocgen-maven-plugin. This plugin allows to generate rich documentation for your (JAX-RS REST-)Services automatically from the code as HTML. Have a look at the integration test report if you want to see an example. This is a small bugfix release. It fixes a JavaScript browser compatibility bug fixed as PR #21 by Mirko Friedenhagen (Thanks!). The list of fixed issues can be viewed here: https://github.com/mojohaus/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/milestone/5?closed=1 Open issues: https://github.com/mojohaus/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/issues Staging repository: https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/orgcodehausmojo-1073/ Site: http://www.mojohaus.org/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/servicedocgen-maven-plugin/index.html The site is not staged by mvn release:perform (it used to be staged once). I will update the site after the vote has passed!? If there are any hits on the process that I missed please let me know. [ ] +1 [ ] +0 [ ] -1 The vote is open for 72 hours and will succeed by lazy consensus.
