problem on usb channel
I want to setup mon through two channels, one is ethernet and the other is USB cable, but when I setup usb channel, I can't ping my original ethernet channel successfuly, ping command only works on USB channel, something like ping always running through USB port. my ip file: server1 : eth0 10.0.0.1 usb0 10.0.0.2 server2: eth0 10.0.0.3 usb0 10.0.0.4 at this time, I type "ping 10.0.0.3" on server1, it failed. the message is "can't not reach destionation port through 10.0.0.2" but if I type "ping 10.0.0.4" on server1, it is ok. The same problem is on server2. Only usb ip is working. If i take usb cable off, ethernet channel is working good. What is the problem? Thank you. _ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. can i start eth0 and eth0:0 sepeartly on boot
One question:I want to setup alias ip of eth0, becuase sometime the original ip of eth0 has already been used by some other computer. As I know when i start the computer in this case, eth0 will fail to get ip and therefore eth0:0 can't get ip either although eth0:0 has no confliction. so I want to know if I can start eth0 and eth0:0 seprately on boot, so eth0:0 will get its ip no matter eth0 is failed or not. Another question: When i set the same alias ip on two computers used on internet, that alias ip can exist as the same time on both computersĀ”A I don't understand, as I know one computer should get failed to active the same alias ip, but it is really coexist on my two computers, why? I try to setup alias ip on one server, after i copy ifcfg-eth0 and make another ifcfg-eth0:0, I restart network, then ifconfig, it looks like : loLink encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP BROADCAST LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1 RX packets:5088 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 TX packets:5088 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 eth0Link encap:10Mbps Ethernet HWaddr 00:8E:B8:83:19:20 inet addr:10.0.0.1 Bcast:10.0.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 eth0:0 Link encap:10Mbps Ethernet HWaddr 00:8E:B8:83:19:20 inet addr:10.0.0.2 Bcast:10.0.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:7 Base address:0x378 when i try to ping eth0:0 ip address through another local computer,it is unreachable. but if i ping eth0's original ip, connection established, why does this happen? Something like no other computer knows its alias ip except itself. if there are some netfilter or something make this happen? Thank you. Eric _ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8.
