I have folowed this step and have a little trouble.
My system is MDV 2008, after a fresh install i had Mono 1.25 and MD ,
located in /usr/ dir, i think about trying mono 1.9, so uninstall all
rpm, download the linux generic install from mono and install it in
/opt/ dir.

No, it will be pretty much 0% complete for 3.0 and 3.5.
The ONLY post-2.0 piece that will be available is the C# compiler which
will support the new C# 3 language features (such as extensions and

I've compiled Mono 1.9 r94604 from source on an ubuntu gutsy amd 64
machine today.
I've encountered some wierdness where my application will stall on exit,
sometimes up to 10 seconds, sometimes not at all.
At various times I've seen this message after/while it manages to exit...:
