What confuses me is WHY a best offer that was 10 THOUSAND dollars
below the asking price was accepted?
no one, logically, would slash 10 grand-- even during these economic
times...that makes NO sense. a couple grand, maybe, when negotiating.
the thought that immediately comes to mind is
Jeff,
Heritage initially estimated this would sell for $20,000 to $30,000 in their
last signature auction. When it failed to reach the minimum reserve (I
believe it was about $15,000) it was consigned to us.
We had an offer come in, ran it by our consignor, and he said yes.
I think this just proves that if you don't get your price the first
time, try again in a week or so and who knows ! Also I might add that
the Wizard Of Oz is a special film with built-in fans and collectors who
will pay just about anything for original material. FRANC

And, really, when you are dealing with consigned material, that's all
it takes.

I have the frock that Judy wore thoughout the picture. I'm getting
tired of wearing this to AA
meetings, so would anyone like to MAKE AN OFFER?

Congratulations! David!
I'm sure this is a Fleabay record this year so far for a movie poster.
This confirms exactly what I've been saying all along. Heritage, unfortunately
does not reach as many buyers as you might think.

Is it the same one from Heritage? I would never have guessed.
The colors in the Heritage one look very faded, I wasn't surprised it didn't
sell.

Congrats on a super-sale! Maybe soon we will be reading of you selling the
Snow White door panels for $25,995.
I hope you will re-invest some small portion of it in my March mini-major
auction.
But why didn't you buy my Melrose Place bus stop that sold for $55 when you
previously sold it for
Rock on Dave!

Thank you all for your kind words!
Jeff, what is it you don't get? Just because it failed to sell in one venue
for $15,000 does not automatically make it worth less than $15,000. We buy
things at auction from Bruce, Heritage, etc. all the time and routinely sell
them for much more.

PS: Curious, I sold a Wiz WC last year at a very high price to Florida.
By any chance did this one go to Florida as well?
