I completely agree that you are doing your daughter the best thing you can
do for her! There is a classic poem that expresses this sentiment well:
*THE READING MOTHER*
Strickland Gillilan
I HAD A MOTHER who read to me
Sagas of pirates who scoured the sea,
Cutlasses clenched in their yellow

some apparent contradictions in his Future History series. To my amazement
I got back a handwritten letter from Mrs Heinlein, saying that they were
written over many years,

My Dad was a Heinlein fan, and he had a shelf full, I borrowed THE MOON IS A
HARSH MISTRESS one day as a kid and sat down and didnt stop 'til I had
finished, first SF book I ever read. I read all he had straight away, then was
hooked.
I like Asmimov a lot myself, his robot books are superb.
I think I remember your daughter is a teen. I have a 15 year old son and a
13 year old son, and I have been trying to get either of them to read just
ONE Heinlein, but of course, since I want them to do it, they refuse! But I
got my 15 year old to finally read 1984, and he loved it, so maybe there
yes, she is 13, turning 14.
Do as I do MAKE A DEAL.
OK kids, Ill play baseball/soccer/whatever / watch (insert teen film title)
/listen to (insert name of some cool band) / play X Box, or whatever, if you
read this.
My daughter read STARBEAST this way, I had to read Harry Potter in
8 matches
