Yes, and it's one of the few genuine science fiction films that isn't

JR is right in that you had to be there. Seeing this film today, even
on a nice flat panel high def TV just does not
speak to the event-quality nature of seeing the CINERAMA release of
this film in a great 70mm house like the Windsor
Cinerama in Houston. It was new, it was futurist, when 2001
sacrilege
any cineast worth his mettle needs to watch this film (along with Ben
Hur) every so often.
I watch it about once a year and I still find something new in it..
it is a remarkable film
