Howdy Ed, Thanks much for the newsletter link, especially, the link involving the inimitable Kirby. Ed and Sue ROCK and i just posted them on my facebook page so people can see the great newsletter.. also Krby was fantastic on his Youtube,, love the organization.. man is he organized or what... and has some great stuff... and then I saw Heritages poster video O la la that is great Guys,, back in 1985 we made for our shop the 1st Video catalog of posters.. I took a camera and my ex wife just flipped through posters and said the title and I played sountracks behind it... it was cool as we could dhow color. but VCRs whereostill just coming into bein.. so it was alittle inheard of,,, and we didnt even have the internet ,,, so we offered it by mail. it was shot on VHS I think i may have a copy somewhere.. we also did TV spots locally on Carson and letterman and other showT,, back then I could buy Carson ( Laocal NBC) for 200.00 a 30sec and letterman in 1982 was only 15.00 a spot as he was just starting... we later did a free ticket givaway I had arranged to fly the winners to see a taping of the show,,, and Lettermans secretay said OK tom Ill get the tickets,, but I did it huge and did TV spots , had a limo and even asked Bill wendle to do the voice over well that made producer Jack Rollins (also woody allens manager)go nuts and he phoned me... I guess you cannot give away TV taping Tickets as FCC prohibits it But I had already run the TV spots and contest... well,,, I took the heat for Lettermans secretary and said i did it without knowing... as she didnt know how Big I was going to promote it... true story... and she later had me go to a taping when I was in NYC with my Brother and they gave us VIP treatment and sat us in a roped off area ,, we saw Stray Cats ,, i forget who else was on the show, But Tickets must be given away with no commercial promotion attached.. Re: [MOPO] FW: LAMP newsletter
It's Kirby McDaniel week. Spoken to Kirby many times over the last 15 or so years, so I wasn't expecting a ten gallon hat, but glad to finally be able to put a face to him. Looking good. Face fits, and surely the most urbane man in the state of Texas. Bet his revolver has a pearl handle. Re: [MOPO] FW: LAMP newsletter
Hey all, i really enjoyed that Kirby video. And I'm glad it was Saint Joan in the b/g and not bullhorns! It's very true that it's about the thrill of the chase as much as the actual acquisition. I also enjoyed the Heritage promo video and its description of The Most Dangerous Game's great picture of the evil Zaroff on the left-hand side. Theleft-hand side? Oops. Hopefully its not a dvd that's been incorrectly listed.
