Hi Miguel,

I've used the LMI HDI quite a lot to scan bird beaks in museums for
morphometrics. It's super portable and does a great job, and although it
can struggle with dark or shiny objects, it's great for bone. However, the
HDI's field of view might not be wide enough to get a whole skull/mandible
in at once. The software is very good at stitching together the scans
though, so it might still work well for you. Most scanning manufacturers
are willing to come and give demos if they think you're going to buy
something, and if they're not, they often have exhibitor stands at
conferences where they'll let you see the scanners in action. Before you
drop a lot of cash, it's always worth giving the scanner a test run in my
opinion!
