This morning my dad and I found a singing adult male Summer Tanager at =
Murphy-Hanrehan Park in Scott County.
I found an adult lapland longspur in my yard today. The Baltimore
oriole that I found three day's ago is still visiting my fruit feeder.
I still have several sparrows around as well.

A male Hooded Warbler was spotted in Black's Grove Park (west of the town of
Wadena) just off State Hwy 29 in east-central Otter Tail County today (5/15)
at 1:00pm.
From the parking lot go beyond the covered picnic shelter (an imposing log
structure) and take the trail where the orange bridge
While my son, Alex, and I were doing a survey on the Louisville swamp
Unit of the MN Valley Wildlife Refuge, I noted a male and female pair of Lark
Sparrows. The birds were seen from the path leading from the SW corner of the

This afternoon Leslie, Susan, Linda, and I spent time enjoying shorebirds at
the Moose Lake Sewage Ponds in Carlton County. There was a male American
Avocet, 1 Hudsonian Godwit, 51 Short-billed Dowitchers, 26 Wilson's Phalaropes,
Bairds, and Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs.

John Wallner and I birded Wright County today from 6:00-2:30. We have never
done Wright before. We began in fog at 33 degrees. We visited about half of the
sites I had targeted.
Spent the last 4 days birding various areas of western and northwestern
Minnesota. Most unusual birds were as follows:
Black Scoter-Thief River Falls sewage ponds on the AM of the 14th
Merlin-apparent nesting bird in the Oak Grove cemetery next to Red Lake
Falls (Red lake County), no nest found
