Yesterday afternoon when I was walking my dog, she came upon a dead very young
bird. I'm looking for some opinions on what species would already have
nestlings this early and with as much body feathering as this one. Mostly

With assistance from other birders we saw a Cooper's Hawk. We saw a Rertailed
Hawk on our own. Many B. E. migrating were seen by other birders.
Iside the headquarters building we saw many American Tree Sparrows and a Song
Spartrow foy birds.

Spent a few hours at Canal Park with Peder Svingen. Peder and I spotted 7
species of gulls today and took many photos.
There were estimate count of about 150 gulls at Canal Park.
Highlights:
1. Ring-billed Gull

3. Thayer's Gull ( 2 first cycle gulls )
4. Iceland Gull ( 2
At least 240 Greater White-fronted Geese were at the west end of L Byllesby
this afternoon (1:15 PM). They were most visible when in flight (6+ eagles
around). At other times they were far south, with many of them in Goodhue
County. A scope is necessary.
Just NW of CR 85 (Hogan) and CR 86 (Roch
Goethite WMA & area.Todays visit. 23 bluebirds, 2 mature eagles 3 red
tail hawks, same 3 trumpeters, 3 meadow larks, 1 kestral. Also my backyard

Took advantage of a beautiful afternoon to visit the nearby Rapids Lake Unit
in Carver. Activity was pretty quiet at the feeders; just black birds and
chickadees and some nuthatches, but on the dirt road coming in were horned

I saw an immature bald eagle in the road ditch feeding on a carcass on March
18. The siting was a few miles west of North Branch, MN.
