I was out on the river south of Lansing, IA yesterday and it looks as
if this last cold front brought all the birds in.
We saw around 2000 Tundra Swans, 50,000 Canvasback, 30,000 Am Coots
and tons of other assorted ducks including Gadwall, Pintail and

I had the afternoon off and went down to Randolph Industrial Park in
Southern Dakota County.
While I did not relocate the reported *Dickcissel,* I did find several
small to medium groups of *Snow Buntings*, totaling about 40 birds, that
again split off into smaller groups. Later, on Le
I arrived at Wisconsin Point around sunrise this morning with my friend
Seth from Hawk Ridge. The birding from the shoreline was just outstanding
this morning! We started at Lot 1, and made our way towards the Superior
Entry. The ducks are really moving through, and among the many distant

Certainly there are Northern Bobwhite to be found in southeastern Minnesota
(and elsewhere in the state), but seeing a covey -- even over a period of
several years -- is not necessarily evidence of a self-sustaining population.
