A Snowy Owl was reported this morning at 340 Ave NW and 170th Street NW
west of US 75 and south of Warren. This may be the same female snowy
that's been spotted the past couple of months in this neighborhood.
We had approximately 200 Common Redpolls and a dozen female Pine Grosbeaks

Hi Birders,
Blue Jays also do a mean Red-shouldered Hawk. We have both on our property and
I will not count a Red-shoulder unless I see it. Usually, if it's from the
woods it's a Bluejay--from the sky it's a Red-shoulder. By the way, I got my

One female Common Redpoll, seen in my backyard this afternoon (1/8) in
Burnsville (Dakota Co.), on the nyjer feeder that I bought
specifically to try to attract redpolls. Looks like the investment

Good birding,
Andy Forbes, Burnsville, Dakota Co.
As if I don't have enough trouble as it is identifying calls. ;)

to do really good imitations.
I've heard them do a perfect Killdeer, the scream of a Red-tailed Hawk,
Eastern Peewee and Red-bellied woodpecker.
If I hear a bird, especially out of season, out of range or out of normal

My favorite was a Pine Siskin in Milwaukee 15+ years ago.
