Today we were in Lake County for the morning.
4 Spruce Grouse (2 male, 2 female)— on Hwy 1 at milepost 301.3 at 7:30am. All

One of yesterday's posts mentioned that the boreal owl is considered a
threatened species in MN. While this may be an accuarate informal description
of the species' status, it is not on Minnesota's list of Endangered,
Threatened,
and Special Concern Species. However, it is a proposed species of
2/25/2013 Minnesota River Valley Audubon ChapterWilkie Unit, MVNWR While
leading a trip for MRVAC, we observed some of the following species. Some of
the waterfowl were on Blue Lake and the remaining birds were observed on the

These are the owl species that meet the MN statutory definition of endangered,
threatened, or special concern:
-Burrowing owl: Endangered
-Short-eared owl: Special concern
The proposed revision of the list of E, T and SC species will include the above
species (their status unchanged) along
