There are still several thousand sandhill cranes in the area. I think they're
here late this year, because local corn fields were harvested much later than
usual, so there's still something for them to eat, plus, we've had temperate
weather too. They seem to be concentrated in the fields on
Ruth Hiland and I found 2 mute swans mixed in with the many hundreds of tundra
swans at about a mile south of the Weaver boat landing.

The Bethany Hawkwatch recorded its second Golden Eagle of the fall today, an
immature this time. Wednesday we had an immature Northern Goshawk. We are
hoping to pass the 4,000 bird mark next week.
