I was able to relocate the buff breasted sandpiper that bob ekblad found.
In addition there was an american bittern as well.

Earlier today I found a Western Kingbird in Redwood County. It was flycatching
from a utility wire along 250th St., just a little west of Cty. Rd. 5. (250th
St. is the southern border of Westline WMA). It was in the company of many
Eastern Kingbirds.

Around 3:15 this afternoon I found an American Avocet at the Isanti WTP,
sitting on the levee between the two southernmost ponds. Later I found 4
Buff-breasted Sandpipers at the sod farm along 397th Ave NW about 0.5 mile
west of Tiger Street. This is in the far northwest corner of the county.
The annual Minn Birding Weekends trip to NW Minn over Labor Day weekend (Aug
29-30-31-Sept 1) turned up a few birds of note in Beltrami, Lake of the Woods,
and Roseau counties, including 15 shorebird species (including Buff-breasteds
and Red-necked Phalaropes), several Short-eared Owls, a few
At least one juvenile Common Gallinule remains at the spot found by Ben
Fritchman northeast of Long Prairie. Thanks to Scott Dirks for excellent
directions.

Saw a common loon on a little lake in Crow Wing county today that looked like
it had been
dipped in a rust/orange dye. Is that done? If so, is there any way to find out
who did it and
why? Just curious.
