Very windy today, typical for for this area. 1,000's of ducks and geese still
in the area particularly at Salt Lake, the south section of Sweetwater WMA and
at Hadenville WMA.
Shorebird activity is increasing! One American Avocet at south unit of
Sweetwater, you need to walk in for views. At
Waterfowl seen yesterday: Tundra Swans, Canada Geese, Am Wigeons, Gadwalls,
Wood
Ducks, Pintails. Ring Necked Ducks, Green Winged Teal and Mallards. Also,
Sandhill
Cranes, Kestrels, Northern Shrikes, Rough Legged Hawks, Tree Sparrows, and the
usual.
1.) From the stop sign in Aitkin go approx
The location of the previously reported Crow Wing County Mountain Bluebird
has been corrected. It was on Sleepy Hollow Rd. 1 mile west of County Rd
21, not 45. There have been no other updates on this bird.

While leading a walk this morning at the Rapids Lake Unit our group encountered
lots of Spring migrants. We hiked the loop trail South of the visitor center
and a short distance on the main trail North from the visitor center.
Here are some of the species we observed:
Bald
Good morning! On my walk yesterday afternoon I spotted a Bluebird in the
General Mills Nature Area this morning saw a Northern Flicker.

I am happy to confirm the earlier spotting of the Loggerhead Shrike in Ramsey
at Lake Itasca . My wife and I went down there this morning and ran into
another couple of birders and we saw what I think are two Loggerhead shrikes on
several occasions in about a one and half hour period. We

A single Ross's Goose is on the east end of Oak Leaf Lake in Nicollet county.
It is in the company of two Canada Geese. Oak Leaf Lake is about two miles west
of St. Peter on the south side of state highway 99.

female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD in Crow Wing Co. John Richardson writes that the
bird is 1 mile west of co rd 45 on Sleepy Hollow Rd. Crow Wing Co.
