I located the juvenile Sabine's gull at around 6:30 pm today (9/7) and
signed up for the listserv just to post about it!
The gull was in the water among a bunch of mallards. I originally noticed
it within the duck flock because it was feeding like a phalarope would.
There were a few other birders

Rained out of work this morning so I spent about 3 hours this afternoon birding
Jackson Co. and tallied a whopping 96 species with relatively little effort,
including 19 warbler species overall. The highlight of the excursion was a
scolding TUFTED TITMOUSE along Black Bridge Rd. near

This afternoon I saw two juvenile Sabine's Gulls with a flock of
about 70 Common Terns at Park Point. They were far out from shore at
the dune bridge near the Sky Harbor Airport. I watched them for
about three minutes, and last saw them flying towards Canal Park.
There was also one
at 3:15 there were 5+ over S MInneapolis (Lyndale and 50th)… driving so I
couldn’t stop and figure out if there were more.

In less than 30 minutes here in our Farmington yard just from the kitchen
window we had the best warbler fall out that I can remember in 12 years of
living here with 10 species. Influx of Hummingbirds with at least five
individuals. Down to three
The Sabine's Gull has returned to the Albany sewage ponds, but is hiding among
several hundred Franklins Gulls on the west pond.
