I completed my 2017, MRVAC Birdathon outing on Thursday with Karol Gresser and
George Lahr. We spent time birding in Hennepin, Scott, Dakota, Rice and Steele
counties. I ended the day with 108 species. Some of the locations we birded
were:
Steele County - Rice Lake State Park
Ron Erpelding just called to tell me about a Great-tailed Grackle on the South
Dakota border of Yellow Medicine County. The Grackle is on the south side of a
marsh which is just south of CR E5.

Had a good morning birding at Oakdale Nature Preserve (off of Hadley Ave.,
south of MN-36), with the highlights being a Bay-Breasted offering extended
looks, a Cerulean Warbler (or two) singing--couldn't see it,
unfortunately--and a Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher.

Hi Everyone,
I was recently contacted by a representative of the Society for
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) who are looking for
leader(s)/guides(s) for a field trip on November 12, 2017. Typically, there
are around 30 participants and the trip usually goes from around 7:30 am to
Red breasted Grosbeak feeding in my oak trees today in West st Paul
