For those who might be interested in looking for the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher,
I thought I would mention that this afternoon from at least 3:00 onwards (and
apparently for several hours before that), the bird was not present on the cell
phone tower mentioned by Pete and Philip. Instead the bird

Was not at the previous location near the scrap yard. Denny Martin said it flew
across the
highway at 11:30. I looked for 1 1/4 quarter hours and relocated it at 1:25 in
the ditch along
the fence line. It seemed to come from the cell tower that is locate
We had a great time on Sunday morning at the Springbrook Nature Center
(Fridley/Anoka County) bird banding session with Ron Refsnider! Even though
we only had a total of 48 birds, we had 17 species, including:
* A Broad-Winged Hawk! (Thanks to Amber Burnett for her bird handling

On Sunday (25th) we had an adult male Western Tanager at our hanging
thistle feeder for a few minutes. We have been watching hopefully, but
it has not returned.

The Western Wood-Pewee continues to be seen and heard in its original
location in Buffalo River State Park near Moorhead. Yesterday, Monday the
26th it was reportedly heard at 10:00 a.m. Today two different sets of
observers heard and/or saw the bird. Tw
The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was present and frequently seen between 6:40 and
9:00 AM this morning.
It appears to have a nest on the previously mentioned cellphone tower. At
least, there is a small heap of dead plant material – rootlets (or something
similarly flexible and woody-looking) and

fenceline at 5:57 AM.
