The gates that are normally open at Carlos Avery WMA were opened this morning Fri 4/27. The roads are in good condition. Waterfowl are very active, even though most pools are mostly still frozen. Many non-breeding bald eagles are also using the area right now. Marshall Deters Wildlife

A quick visit to this spot south of Cologne yesterday showed only modest numbers of waterfowl present despite abundant water levels. With the opening of water elsewhere the waterfowl has moved on. No need to make any visits to this area for waterfowl. Regards. William Marengo
