This morning there were still extensive rafts of coots on Lake Christina north of Ashby MN along Hwy. 78. I also observed 3 large flocks of pelicans floating among the coots. I didn't have time to count them but would estimate 50 or so all together. Also, are there Merlins around the area

The pine grosbeaks have continued a sporadic appearance. I spotted 3 both today and yesterday. I cut up an extra apple and put it in the tray feeder they frequent. Can't tell if they've eaten any or not. The mourning dove made a brief cameo this afternoon and the cardinal pair were back
