Eastern bluebirds typically make a migratory stopover in the mature aspen woods
near the Roseau River WMA headquarters. A small flock (relative to past years)
showed up on 2 October and were vocalizing in the treetops this morning.
They typically stay for a handful of days before moving on.

I observed an adult golden eagle on Pool 1East of Roseau River WMA. It flushed
from alongside the dike road at ~40 yards and circled me. Viewing conditions
were excellent. I believe the eagle was there to "monitor" Canada geese, the
young of which have been hatching over the past week-plus.
On 1/27/2021, I observed a gyrfalcon south of Pool 2 on the Roseau River WMA.
It was perched in an aspen snag near the dike road.
I have been back to the site several times since the observation and have not
observed the bird again. I last observed a gyrfalcon at RRWMA ~25 years ago.
