Today was a spectacular day at Hawk Ridge. A grand total of 53 Golden Eagles
were counted, a flight which I didn't even think possible in Minnesota.
Previous high counts at Hawk Ridge have been 38 on 17 November 2005, 29 on 26
October 2001, and 26 on 31 October 2002. Also counted today were 266 Bald
Eagles, 15 Northern Goshawks, 163 Red-tailed Hawks, 82 Rough-legged Hawks, and
the first significant wave of Common Redpolls (350) and Pine Grosbeaks (23).

My sincere thanks to Russ Edmonds, Andrew Longtin, Jen Ottinger, Erik Bruhnke,
and all other staff and volunteers?who were on hand to help with today's count.
Thanks to everyone for a great day (and a great season!). Without such
enthusiastic help these counts would not be possible.

Daily counts of raptors and non-raptors at the ridge will continue to be
updated through November at hawkcount.org. and the Hawk Ridge website at
www.hawkridge.org.
