My mother in SW Michigan (near Kalamazoo) has also been seeing Red-breasted Nuthatches this fall. She usually doesn't see them at all, but has seen one or two birds several times over the last few weeks. I have one here, but it may be my usual winter resident. I don't usually see it in the
