This is the Duluth Birding Report for April 9th, 2016 sponsored by the
Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

John Richardson saw a SHORT-EARED OWL flying over Lake Superior on the
5th near the Sky Harbor Airport on Park Point. John also saw four
LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the 4th at Brighton Beach in Duluth. Twelve
LONG-TAILED DUCKS were still present on the 9th at Agate Bay in Two
Harbors

Peder Svingen saw three GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS and three THAYER'S
GULLS on the 8th on the Minnesota side of the Superior Entry. ICELAND
GULLS, GLAUCOUS GULLS, THAYERÂ’S GULLS, and GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS
continue to be seen on Allouez Bay at Wisconsin Point.

Migrating BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS have been seen during the past week at
several locations throughout Duluth and up the North Shore to Duluth
Township.

Recent new arrivals in the area include YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER on the
2nd, TREE SWALLOW on the 3rd, and RED-NECKED GREBE on the 5th.

The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, April
14th.
