The 2018 supplement of the American Ornitholological Society (formerly the American Ornithologists’ Union, or AOU) checklist has now been published. This year there are no lumps or splits affecting the checklists of Minnesota or the American Birding Association (ABA) area, and the only English name change is that Gray Jay is now Canada Jay (which is what this species used to be named until 1957). There are also some changes in scientific names and/or sequence involving some sparrows, woodpeckers, and hawks which affect the MN checklist.
