Ave/690th St corner and one adult male on the corner of 160th/670th.

A report to me of two owls seen on Jan. 12 at sunset prompted me to search
for both this morning between 0800 and 1000. Two owls were located. One
dark young owl 500 yards east of 120th Ave, 1/2 mile north of 700th St. (a
favorite high vantage point in this field). A second whiter owl was seen

I am sorry to hear there are those making a bad name for all bird
photographers. Being a bird photographer involved in bird conservation as
well, I do not push the limits for the sake of that perfect shot. Even with
a supertelephoto lens, there are some situations when one should simply

As a bird photographer, I add my voice to Ken Vail in echoing his words
of caution to those who do not respect the space of these beautiful wild
birds. If you don't think it means you for some reason ("I had the
landowner's permission"), please rethink your behavior anyway. I've

Three Snowy Owls were still present this afternoon in the previously
reported areas. I'm amazed at how quickly people respond to the posting.
There were 3 vehicles of birders looking at the owls two hours after my
original post.
I was, however, horrified to see someone carrying his camera and tri

Initially on a utility pole along 700th St. 1/2 mile west of 110th Ave. Then

I spent much of today visiting various spots in southeast Minnesota, in
search of birds and some slightly warmer weather.
I saw two Snowy Owls in southwestern Dodge County this afternoon, in the

Thank you to everyone who has been posting about the Snowy Owls in Dodge
County and to all who helped Steve and I see it Sunday early evening. Steve,
my (new) husband, was very impressed with the birding community he met
yesterday. He understands why I enjoy this endeavor of birding so much.

around the area of 700th, 690th and 120th looking with no success. We then
found a group of cars looking north on 700th Street to the small snow
