Around 10:30 this morning I was driving past the beach area in Thief River Falls where Jeannie Joppru reported a Glaucous Gull last Saturday. The Glaucous Gull was standing on the beach with 6 or 8 Franklin's Gulls. A passing Bald Eagle flushed them all and I saw the Glaucous head off to the southwest. I reasoned it might be going to the sewage ponds so I went to the overlook on the west side. After about 10 minutes of scanning I spotted it on the berm off to the northwest from where I was viewing.
