An adult male Harlequin Duck appeared along the Duluth Lakewalk late this
afternoon amongst a flock of 380 Common Goldeneyes, the adult male Barrow's
Goldeneye, and the adult male Hooded Merganser X Common Goldeneye hybrid. For a
while, the Barrow's and the Harlequin were swimming side by side. These birds
were first seen at the Lakewalk access between 16th and 17th Ave E near the
Lakewalk surgery center, but the entire flock flew off en masse at 15:21 and
were relocated (including the Barrow's and the Harlequin) from the 42nd Ave E
access at dusk but were much more distant.
